GREAT album, good the remastering by Second Battle, nice the extra but "Let Me Explain 5"..TERRIBLE!
Easily distinguishable, very thin vinyl, additional numbers on Matrix.I wouldn't recommend buying this album online, because amateurs will label this an original.
I think, this edition is made by ex-the owner of Melocord label because the shape of the sleeve is same as original sleeve, except top opening sleeve. (Top opening sleeve is the sleeve that direction of the back took the wrong. The feel of a material of paper is same as original.) Perhaps, the sleeves were made more than the vinyls in '72. So he had deadstock of only the sleeve. And he made second press vinyl by source from an original copy because perhaps he lost the master tape. And he added original sleeves to second press vinyls. This is an opinion of my supposition.
Thanks for your thoughts and info. This indeed could be the case with the very similar second issue. The copy sold on eBay in January 2018 clearly had a different matrix number in the dead wax making it the first and real one I think. What I still don’t know is if these plays well or if the originals are from the same transfer..
Thanks for the comment. No one seems to know much about this since so few seem to care about the actual record and the magical music. I clearly see what the original pressing is now, it's the one with the small matrix etching only - realize I bought my copy as one and paid a lot of money for it. What pisses me off even more is that the person probably knew this. I need to know how the original pressing plays though? I can't pay 500 euros for an album just because it plays just as bad as the counterfeit
Yes, even if a copy of second press is Mint, it sounds noise because the second edition is not from the master tape. The second edition is from a Ex copy of the vinyl. My copy of first press does not sound noise because it is Mint, and the first edition is pressed by the master tape. First press does not have "130211" on dead wax area of vinyl.
Thanks for info - though I still need to know more about the "first" press. The CD by Witch & Warlock from 1991 was from a tape I guess but the edition of the vinyl I have plays with a lot of crackle and some hiss - especially on "Silence". Even though it looks brand new this "2nd-press" I have was probably just badly mastered. It´s a shame since it looks brand new.
Does anyone know about an existing early "80´s" reissue of this, or was there a slightly later pressing made in the early 70´s??My copy, sold to me as an original for 300 Euro, has the normal opening on the right hand-side of the cover, and the vinyl is pretty thin. Any info?
Early 2015 I bought a copy of this as an original, but now I noticed it has the 130211 in dead wax.The seller told me "It doesn't play perfect, because it was Reine's old copy".But now I'm guessing it's because it's not the "glorious sound quality original", and not your fault at all. :)Oh well...
Hello, the one with the thin vinyl and 130211 as extra scratched in the runout is a second press from the late seventies. No matter if the opening is on top or right side. It's a regular story; These copies are often sold as originals for high prices.I'm're fooled by someone.Probably the seller even didn't know it was a second press.
A recently new unplayed original copy of this album seems to have the same problem as another VG+ copy that I just got rid of. "Silence" plays with lots of crackle
The first pressing has a thick kind of vinyl and a glorious sound quality and don't forget it has no number 130211 in the deadwax.Extremely rare as a first pressing.
